The big larch passed away
In Balavaux, on an alpine pasture in the heights of Nendaz overlooking the Rhone valley, there is a forest of secular larches, which can reach a respectable age of 800 years. They are the largest in Europe, some reaching 12 meters in circumference.
Recently, one of these venerable trees was struck by lightning and burned from the inside. The sight is amazing. And seen from the inside, one could almost believe it was a tribute to Giger, who also recently passed away.
