About...

Mohr, Mohr and more

logoaboutmmmAMohr, Mohr and more is the name of the company that Barbara and Alain-Yan Mohr set up in the 1990s to offer courses, seminars, consultancy services and IT development.

In early 2000, we moved from Geneva to Nendaz in the Valais mountains, where we opened a bed & breakfast.

In 2012, we closed the Bed & Breakfast and left our mountain nest to move closer to the plains and warmer conditions.

Who am I? An eternal question, to which humanity has yet to find a satisfactory answer...

For me, life is an artistic and spiritual experience. I exasperated those around me from a very early age, being incapable of conforming to linear and binary systems - academic, religious, military, authoritarian... Allergic to any career plan and, more generally, to the prison system of thought that was supposed to guarantee a good stay on Earth, I quite naturally retained and developed a free and global vision of the world.

I've explored a whole range of disciplines, places, lifestyles and schools of thought, without ever adhering to any of them so as not to find myself in a cage. In short, I know how to do lots of things.

Ambre Singh

logobearSince the start of the third millennium, I've sometimes assumed the virtual identity of Ambre Singh when, caught up in an artistic frenzy, I wander around the best of the Metaverse, Second Life (see below, about the Metaverse). This virtual community is home to a host of brilliant and generous artists, who create virtual environments for their own enjoyment and that of the community.
My images tell stories. I set up scenes in Second Life, or use its incredible wealth of environments.
You'll meet Ambre, an expression of my feminine nature, even more mischievous than I am, on various pages of this site.

Merry disrespect

Through the voice of Jane Roberts, Seth said that "the universe is not a suit and tie affair". Awakening is more like laughing than graduating with your eyes downcast and a square hat on your head.

In what I say, write and create, I take a malicious pleasure in upsetting what should indisputably be respected. I create gaps to let the light through. With tenderness, I hope.

Pink Dildo

It's all Ambre's fault. The Pink Dildo came into being when I was making a series of images about a nun struggling with her libido. It then took on a metaphorical and joyfully subversive dimension in many images and stories, most notably in the Pink Dildo Odyssey.

None of this would have happened if, since ancient times, males had not measured and colonised reality by the yardstick of their penises. Just to say: there are plenty of alternatives.

Metaverse

We've been hearing a lot about the Metaverse ever since parasite Mark Zuckerberg pitifully appropriated the concept, seeing it as the future of Facebook.

The term Metaverse first appeared in 1992, in Neal Stephenson's science fiction book Snow Crash. In this complex and fascinating work, the author describes a near-future in which humans live in two worlds simultaneously: the physical, 'real' world, and the virtual world, an evolution of the Internet, similar to a huge video game created by its inhabitants: the Metaverse. In this book, most humans are constantly connected to the Metaverse by neural implants. To each his own.

But, with all due respect to Mr Zuckerberg, the Metaverse belongs to everyone, just like the Internet of which it is the evolution. There are a great many 'grids', these mini virtual worlds, and there have been since the early 90s. Second Life is one of these virtual worlds, originally inspired by the Burning Man event: it's the community that creates its world. It's an environment that lends itself to business, education or therapy, and there's as much intelligence and stupidity to be found there as in the rest of the Internet. For me, it's an extraordinary creative potential for telling and illustrating stories.
